During the second quarter of FY2022/23, Ethiopia's import landscape experienced notable trends, reflecting the country's trade relationships with various regions across the globe. Asia accounted for the primary source of Ethiopia's imports with 64.4 percent of the country's total import volume. Within Asia, several key players played a pivotal role in fulfilling Ethiopia's import needs. Notably, China stood out as the leading contributor with a substantial 32.4 percent share, followed closely by India at 21.8 percent. Additionally, Saudi Arabia (13.8 percent), UAE (12.0 percent), Malaysia (7.3 percent), Kuwait (3.5 percent), Indonesia (2.4 percent), and Thailand (1.3 percent) collectively accounted for a significant 94.5 percent share of Ethiopia's imports from Asia.
