Ethio Telecom Density And Financial Report for 2021/2022
The telecommunication penetration rate, also known as telecom density, measures the percentage of the population that has access to telecommunication services. In the case of Ethiopia, the telecom density increased from 54.8% in 2020/21 to 63.3% in 2021/22.
The increase in telecom density was mainly driven by a 61.3% improvement in mobile density, meaning more people had access to mobile phone services compared to the previous year. This indicates that more individuals in Ethiopia were able to use mobile phones for communication.
However, the internet and data density, which measures the percentage of the population with internet and data access, decreased from 24.3% to 21.5%. This suggests that there was a slight decline in the number of people with internet and data connectivity in Ethiopia.
Additionally, the fixed line density, which refers to the percentage of the population with access to fixed line telephony, declined from 0.9 per 100 subscribers to 0.8 per 100 subscribers. This indicates a decrease in the number of people using traditional fixed line telephone services.
Overall, while mobile phone access improved, there was a slight decrease in internet and data connectivity, as well as a decline in fixed line telephony usage in Ethiopia during the mentioned period.
